INDICATIONS
Zinc 50 is a ready to use suspension of Zinc Oxide BP grade (500 grams per litre) in conjunction with natural stabilisers, suspension agents and an apple flavour. It is suitable for use as an aid in zinc supplementation and facial eczema protection in sheep and cattle.

Long term daily dosing of zinc oxide gives the best form of protection against facial eczema and for best results should be started at least two weeks before the risk period is expected and continue until spore counts are below the accepted risk level. Crisis dosing of non-treated animals is less effective and offers less protection. Zinc is a potentially toxic chemical. Toxic levels are approximately 3 times the crisis dose.

STORAGE
Store in a cool dry place. Keep out of reach of children. Replace cap when not in use.

DIRECTIONS
Cattle:
The general dosage is 3mls per 50kg liveweight per day.
Treatment should start at 20% of the total daily requirement and gradually increase to the required total daily dose over 10 - 14 days.
Dosing should start 2 - 3 weeks before the first danger from facial eczema spores is expected and continue until pasture is considered safe.

Ideally, cattle should be treated daily as high levels of zinc can cause a drop in milk production, and in some animals depress blood calcium concentration resulting in out of season milk fever.

Shake well to agitate suspension before use.

Precautions:
Zinc is a potentially toxic element. The dosage levels that are effective in preventing eczema are safe, but have a margin of safety of only approximately 3 times the effective crisis dose.

High and prolonged administration of zinc can suppress the selenium and copper levels in some animals. Please consult your veterinarian if in doubt.
